Hot Chocolate Cupcakes


Here at Mallow & Marsh, hot chocolate with marshmallow is kind of a big deal. Inspired by our ultimate hot chocolate recipe, we’ve created Hot Chocolate Cupcakes – a deliciously simple cupcake recipe flavoured with hot cocoa powder and topped with whipped cream, chocolate shavings and of course, marshmallow!


(Makes 10 cupcakes)
63g self raising flour
63g caster sugar
1/4 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
63 (soft) unsalted butter
1 large egg
1 tablespoon milk
4 tablespoon high quality hot chocolate powder
Whipped Cream
Mallow & Marsh Vanilla Marshmallow
Bar of milk chocolate


  1. Preheat the oven to 170 degrees
  2. Sift the flour and bicarbonate of soda in a bowl and set aside
  3. In a bowl, whisk the butter for 2-3 minutes and then add the sugar and whisk until light and fluffy
  4. Add the butter & sugar mixture to the flour mixture and crack in 1 egg. Whisk until light and smooth
  5. Add 1 tbsp of milk and 4 tablespoons of hot chocolate powder and whisk together
  6. Spoon the mixture into cupcake cases until half full and pop in the oven for 20-22 minutes
  7. Once baked, remove the cupcakes from the oven and leave until completely cool to the touch
  8. When ready to serve, swirl on some whipped cream and grate over milk chocolate and top with our Vanilla marshmallow
  9. Eat and enjoy!
